Congratulations to our Shady Spring Middle School Cheer team. They recently competed in the Raleigh County Cheerleading Competition. The Tiger Cheer squad finished 2nd overall. Also a big congratulations to Brylee Whittaker and Jayden Kubow as they were both selected All-County Cheerleaders.

Free afterschool tutoring Raleigh County Schools is happy to announce opportunities for students across the county to receive free afterschool tutoring. These services are made possible through Extended Program grants and provided by your child’s home school certified teachers. Tutoring services may include… · In person one-on-one or small group - core content academic sessions · In person one-on-one or small group - critical school success tutoring sessions for items such as (organization skills, technology skills, study skills, test taking tips, etc.) · In person one-on-one or small group - enrichment support (high stakes test prep SAT, ACT, etc., academic fairs, college/job readiness preparation, etc.) Please contact your child’s school for details on scheduling tutoring services. Raleigh County Schools Attendance Poster Contest

Schedules will be available on Schoology for students to view by 3pm on Tuesday August 23rd. If you are unable to view your schedule a paper copy may be picked up from the school on August 24th from 10am-1pm. Schedules will be available the first day of school for students who are unable to see them electronically or pick up a paper copy.

This is a message from Shady Spring Middle School for parents of upcoming 7th graders for the 2022-2023 school year. Just a reminder that students entering 7th grade are required to show proof of their meningococcal and Tdap booster. Your student will not be permitted to participate in any fall sports practice or start the first day of school in August until proof of their vaccine is turned in to the school. If they have vaccine documentation to turn in please have them bring it to school with them, or drop it off at school before the 1st day of class. An updated dental exam and wellness exam for your upcoming 7th grader can also be turned in to the school nurse. If you have any questions, please contact our school nurse, Ms. Williams Thank you!

Save the date

There will be a parent meeting on Thursday, August 4th at 5:00 PM at SSMS for any student interested in playing soccer this year. The first day of practice will be Monday, August 8th. The time has yet to be determined.
